The Department of Earth, Atmospheric, and Planetary Sciences (EAPS), within the College of Science, Purdue University, invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the area of Planetary Materials. The Planetary Science Group within EAPS has an international reputation, extensive involvement in spacecraft missions, and newly developed undergraduate and graduate programs. We seek to grow and are looking for someone who conducts laboratory analysis of planetary materials or their terrestrial analogues. Candidates must have completed their PhD in an appropriate field. The appointee is expected to develop and maintain a vigorous, externally funded, internationally recognized research program and to teach and mentor students at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

The Center for Radiophysics and Space Research at Cornell University announces the availability of a Research Associate position, posting #27416,  in the field of planetary surface exploration, to work on the Mars Science Laboratory and Mars Exploration Rover missions. The position is a 9-month appointment and includes benefits. Successful candidates will be expected to teach mineralogy for undergraduate geology majors, physical geology at the entry level, and possibly a specialized mineralogy or petrology course at the upper division undergraduate or graduate level. Candidates will also be encouraged to participate in departmental research projects and/or work on their own research.

The MESSENGER spacecraft, in its second extended mission, will continue to return data from its suite of instruments from Mercury until early 2015. Fellows will aid in planning and analysis of MESSENGER observations and carry out research aimed at understanding the planet’s origin and geological evolution.
