- Description:
DPS meetings have great bases for students to network among other scientists and learn about how other scientists encounter with the scientific problems and get some new ideas. However, the meeting holds so many great presentations, talks, events, and information in a very short time that the students rarely find some time to network among other students and have some close to their own level advice. This event will help students to get familiar with other students, in particular with other students, who work on the similar area, and discuss their scientific views and general issues, and encourages the students to participate in brain storming conversations and joint projects. Since the post-docs were graduate students not so long ago, their advise and experience will definitely be valuable to new or specially senior graduate students, and for that reason this event will include post-docs as well.
One of the main complaints from previous meeting was that often graduate students get to know each other gradually by end of the meeting, but then the conference was finished and they had not had enough chance to talk with other graduate students. Thus, the goal of this reception is to prepare an icebreaker environment for graduate students and post-docs to get familiar with each other on the first day of the meeting and use the rest of the meeting for getting involved with other activities.
