Bylaw change to allow for a special election to replace a Vice-Chair: Passed with 97% of the vote. 374 members (28% of the electorate) voted, which is the highest turnout in the three years that the election has been Web-based. Abstract submission opened on 1 July 2008, with a deadline of 9:00 PM EDT, Friday, 1 August 2008. See http://members.aas.org/abstracts/ The following DPS presentation rules apply: One contributed planetary presentation per person. History, Education and Invited papers do not count as the one contribution. Non-members may only present one time at a DPS Meeting. To implement these rules, abstracts must be submitted through the presenting author's AAS account. Reservations for hotels at the DPS Ithaca meeting opened on 1 July 2008, with reservations for the Statler Hotel, on campus, opening today, July 3rd. See http://greenconferencing.astro.cornell.edu/ 3---------3---------3---------3---------3---------3---------3---------3 SPITZER WARM MISSION OBSERVING PROPOSALS SOLICITED http://ssc.spitzer.caltech.edu/ NASA has authorized the Spitzer project to plan for approximately two years of "warm" Spitzer observations after the cryogenic mission ends. After cryogen depletion the observatory will continue operating the 3.6 and 4.5 micron channels on the IRAC instrument with expected sensitivity unchanged from performance in the cryogenic mission. The longer wavelength IRAC channels (5.6 and 8.0 microns) and the MIPS and IRS instruments will be unavailable.
