TRAVEL GRANTS FOR DPS 2004 MEETING IN LOUISVILLE

A small number of travel grants for eligible students, post-graduate
fellows, or scientists without other means of support are expected
to be available.  Grants will consist of partial travel expenses
(we anticipate about $250), plus a waiver of registration fees.
The application package should be no longer than the equivalent of
3 pages, and contain the following:

1.  A COPY (a preliminary draft is sufficient) of the abstract of
the paper to be presented.  Both oral and poster papers are
eligible. The abstract MUST also be submitted through the regular
submission process to the AAS. We won't be doing it for you!

2.  A brief letter describing the scientific significance of the
research, and any further justification for attending the meeting
(e.g. job hunting).  For students or post-docs, the letter may be
written by the advisor; if not, it should be concurred (co-signed)
by the advisor. In either case the advisor should confirm the need
for travel assistance.

3.  A brief CV including degree status.

For full consideration, the application package should be submitted
by Friday August 27, 2003, to the DPS Vice-Chair:
Dr. William McKinnon. We STRONGLY prefer email submissions to
mckinnon@wustl.edu, with DPS Travel Grant as the header.  If email
submissions are impossible, hard copy material may be sent to
Dr. William McKinnon, Dept. Earth and Planetary Sci., Washington
University, One Brookings Dr., St. Louis, MO 63130, USA, or faxed
to 314-935-7361.

Later applications for travel support will be considered if funds
are still available, but our deadline was chosen so that  students
and others will know if they have money before the official abstract
deadline (DPS abstracts due 1 September 2004 by 11:59pm EDT - see
http://cpl.louisville.edu/DPS)
