BREAKFAST WITH THE DPS CHAIR

Graduate students and post-docs are invited to have a buffet breakfast
with the current DPS Chair, Rick Binzel, the incoming DPS Chair, Bill
Cochran, and the incoming DPS Vice-Chair Bill McKinnon. We would
like to meet you and learn about your activities, future plans, and
thoughts about the future of solar system exploration.

Breakfast will be Tuesday through Saturday morning from 7:00-8:00 AM at
The California Grill in the DoubleTree Hotel. You will be our guest.

Sign up at: www.aas.org/~dps/DPSBREAKFAST/breakfast.html
Space is limited to 12 for each morning to give us an opportunity to
actually talk with you. [Please sign-up for only one date.]

THE DPS WANTS YOU!

In addition to elected officers and Committee members, there are many
appointed positions within the DPS. These positions (and expiration
dates for current terms) are:

   Education Public Outreach Officer (2003)
   Secretary/Treasurer (2004)
   Press Officer (2005)
   Icarus Editorial Board (annual)
   Nominating Subcommittee (annual)

For many of these, it is desirable to identify interested persons in
advance of the expiration of the term to provide for overlap and
training. There are also special appointments of Deputy/Assistant for
the Press Officer and EPO Officer that may or may not serve as step to
the lead position.

The DPS wants YOU! If you have an interest or curiosity about these
DPS positions, please talk it over with a DPS Committee member or the
current holder of the position. Yes these are all hard work, but
rewarding and appreciated by your fellow DPS members. They are all
vital to the success of our Division.

DPS COMMITTEE TO CONSIDER SEPARATE SECRETARY AND TREASURER POSITIONS

According to Article III, Section 1 of the DPS bylaws, the DPS
Committee may at their discretion separate the Secretary-Treasurer
position into both a Secretary and a Treasurer. Given the growth of
the Division since the time of its inception, taking this step may be
long overdue. This matter will be discussed by the DPS Committee and
the results brought forward during the annual business meeting. The
DPS Committee welcomes your input: dpscomm@aas.org What's more, there
is the possibility of up to two open appointments to the DPS
Committee.
