WARNING: GOVERNMENT RATE BOOKINGS AT NEW ORLEANS HYATT HOTEL

Please note that the guaranteed government rate offered by the Hyatt
hotel is for a very limited number of rooms (approximately 20). The
hotel has accepted bookings at the government rate from anyone
requesting that rate. But be forewarned: you will only be allowed
to check in at that rate if you can produce a valid FEDERAL GOVERNMENT
ID or a travel order from the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT (Civil service or
military). State governments and NASA contractors (e.g. JPL) don't
qualify. If you are refused the government rate, the hotel is within
their contract rights to charge you rack rate ($209) at the time of
check-in. If there is still room in our reserved block they might give
you the group rate, but don't count on it, they are not obligated to
do so past November 5. Since the government rate block is already
overfilled, please, if you don't qualify, phone up the hotel and
re-book at the group rate. This will save you time, confusion,
embarrassment, and maybe money at the time of checkin, and will also
earn you the gratitude of your fellow DPS members who are federal
employees. It would be a shame not to have all the contracted rooms
filled at government rate, but that will happen if any rooms are being
held by people who won't qualify for the government rate when they
arrive.

The group room block still has space for all nights, so you should be
able to receive the guaranteed rate of $142/night. But it is filling
fast, so don't wait. Some government rate rooms may open up following
this request, so if you qualify for it and were previously refused, it
might be worth re-checking. If you have any trouble with booking, you
can contact the New Orleans Hyatt Reservations Manager, Jane Tebbe, at
(504) 587-4139. She is aware of the situation and should be able to
take care of anyone having problems.
