NOTES FROM THE CHAIR - Responses Regarding NASA Grant Delays
The impacts due to delays in NASA grant notification and funding are broad and
serious. Thank you to all who have responded to my request for information. I
have posted your responses (with obvious identifiers removed) at
http://www.aas.org/~dps/nfc/responses.html
These only sample the impact on our community and institutions. If you wish to
add to these, or communicate with me further on this matter, I want to hear
from you ([email protected]).
Your statements together create a powerful argument, requiring both immediate
and long term resolution of problems existing at NASA Headquarters. NASA
research programs should not rely on what are essentially loans from
universities, private companies, and personal credit cards. Scientists in
NASA programs should not have to work without pay, nor be searching for other
jobs, because of bureaucratic issues at Headquarters.
