The DPS is committed to reducing the environmental impact, especially
the carbon footprint, of our meetings. We will work to reduce the use
of resources during the meeting itself, but we are also keenly aware
that the great majority of any meeting's carbon footprint comes from
the travel of participants to the meeting. We are evaluating various
options for offsetting this impact, including the purchase of
renewable energy credits (as we have done in the past two meetings),
incentives for greener travel to the meeting, and direct
investment in renewable energy, as is now being pursued by the
European Geophysical Union.
